Your iPhone will send you a "Low Battery" notification well in advance, typically weeks before the battery is completely depleted.
If the battery does die, the AirTag will stop transmitting its location, and the Find My app will only show its last known position.
The good news is, AirTags use a standard, easily replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery, so you can quickly swap it out and restore full tracking functionality.
